Homeless Services at BNHC

Community Care in Reach Mobile Services Unit

The Community Care in Reach (CCiR) mobile unit consists of a pickup truck and medical trailer that visits various spots in Brockton to provide low-threshold medical care to individuals experiencing homelessness.

In 2021, the HEALing Communities Study catalyzed the creation of the CCiR initiative. The family of Robert Kraft generously donated the medical trailer to BNHC to make this program possible. In 2023, BNHC received funding from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Addiction Services to continue the mobile services initiative for years to come.

All CCiR appointments are conducted on a walk-in basis. Clinical services include substance use treatment, wound dressing, STI testing and treatment, and basic medical care. The mobile program offers outreach services including syringe exchange, harm reduction supplies, drug checking, and items that enhance the health and comfort of individuals experiencing homelessness.

The main clinic entrance at 124 Manley St.

In 2001, BNHC opened a satellite primary care clinic in the Father Bill’s and Mainspring Shelter, enabling unhoused individuals to access medical care in a comfortable and familiar setting. In 2025 the clinic moved into a new space at 124 Manley St. at the new Housing Resource Center operated by Father Bill’s and MainSpring.

All appointments at the Manley St. clinic are walk-in. The shelter clinic is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, Medical Assistant, and a Clinical Secretary. Clinical services offered at Mainspring include urgent care, treatment of chronic conditions, STI testing and treatment, wound care, and primary care. Insurance enrollment is available for patients for whom coverage is a barrier to treatment.
