Brockton Neighborhood Health Center Breaks Ground On A 24,000 Square Foot Addition.

With an 11.3 million dollar grant, awarded by the federal government, the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center broke ground on a new addition on September 16, 2011. The grant will be used to add four more floors to the one-story urgent care expansion that the health center opened in July 2010.  

Sue Joss, Executive Director, welcomed about 100 local business leaders and health care professionals as well as speakers; Brockton’s Mayor Balzotti, State Representative Mike Brady, James Hunt President & CEO of the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and Joyce Rain Anderson, President of the health centers board of directors.

Mayor Balzotti and Mike Brady congratulated Sue Joss and the center on bringing much needed services to Brockton and providing an economic engine to the city. James Hunt followed the success of the health center movement in Massachusetts. He told the crowd that “1 in 8 residents of the state go to a health center for their care.” He also congratulated Sue and the staff on their hard work and determination that made this groundbreaking a possibility. Joyce Rain Anderson also congratulated Sue and the staff and thanked the board for their hard work. She told those gathered that she has been associated with the health center from the beginning and she looked forwarded to seeing everyone next year at this time for the ribbon cutting.
